05.04.20 playlist

As it becomes more and more difficult to discern one day from the next, we’ve decided to begin curating our own playlists to help high school students who have an unquenchable thirst + an fierce fire in their belly to create change through emerging technologies.

We know that the school day usually runs on seven periods a day for five days, but we are not convinced that individuals learn best from switching their brain every hour or so to a new subject.

Rather our playlists are meant to be used across the course of a week. As you find things that interest you, don’t be afraid to follow your natural curiosity and spend a little more time on topics that you just can’t seem to get enough of.

//1 - Have you tried out Airbnb’s virtual experiences? Unlike some video, these videos are live, so you can socialize with others virtually. Through these new virtual experiences you can participate in “Dance Like a K-pop Star,” presented live by a guide in South Korea; “Cook with a Moroccan Family,” from Marrakesh; go inside “Tokyo Anime and Subcultures,” from Japan; or spend the “Day in the Life of a Shark Scientist,” from South Africa. Imagine if a high school class could be replaced with one of these…Take a look and let us know what you think.

//2 - Many of our student designers are curious about the future of automobility. This website from IDEO allows you to immerse yourself in the future and see for yourself how things and people will move through spaces.

//3 - What’s it like to be an MIT student? Check out this student’s perspective and his advice for applying to MIT here. Read his full bio and more blog posts here.

//4 - See the design process come alive by looking at Adidas’s new shoe, a shoe that is made from 100@% recyclable TPU. To test the shoes, the company took the product out of the lab and distributed 200 pairs of FUTURECRAFT.LOOP to adidas creators; athletes, musicians, artists and select media partners in London, Paris, New York, LA, Shanghai and Tokyo,

//5 - Have you have wondered what it would be like to combine artificial intelligence + art? This website hosts the largest community of AI artists. Take a peek and be amazed at what happens when these two disciplines are combined. And here are all the tools you could need to get started on your first AI art project.

//6 - Read a recent opt-ed from a soon to be high school student in NYC that claims she is learning more virtually than she did when she went to school in-person. Does this feel the same or different from your experience?

//7 - overheard on twitter…
